The charity Friendship Zone was one of the first organisations in Northampton to be lucky enough to be involved in a national scheme run by Future Job Fund. This proposal is together combating unemployment and is creating 35 jobs for young hopefuls in Northampton, giving them the chance for a 6 month paid work contract with the charity.

This is the second group already, which use this fantastic opportunity to work and learn together at the same time. All of youngsters confirm that the job at Friendship – Zone is really great experience they could add in their CV’s for next employers. One of Friendship Zone’s aims is to make dreams come true, and also the opportunity to find a good job. This program provides teaching on IT skills, telemarketing, how to make friends, and the prospect of finding employment.

Kelly Purcell, 23, from Northampton was unemployed for 10 months. This opportunity was an ultimate chance she was looking for. According to Kelly, she is very happy and grateful for this chance to prove herself at Friendship Zone. Before Kelly found this work, she had worked in a few different jobs with different responsibilities. “When I lost my last job, I went and checked at job centre at least twice a week, went and looked for places advertising for work around town.” Kelly attended few interviews; however there were other candidates who came up better than her. She also mentioned that employers preferred to employ candidates with experience to those without.

Carrie Anne Smith, 20, also from Northampton is studying in Northampton College, was unemployed for 5 months. Previously she worked for a Company, where she was responsible for taking calls and payments and making arrangements for business people. How ever she found this role not challenging enough. Friendship-Zone gave Carrie Anne the opportunity to engage in a role that suited her most. “I am grateful for this opportunity and wish other youngsters can take the same path.

Friendship Zone is a social networking website which members can apply for various programs online. This charity is unique like no other, as 100% of the revenue is reinvested back into the community.

It can be well noted that Friendship Zone can give valuable training to unemployed youngsters to achieving better opportunities in the current and future job market.
